Committed to the treatment of
children with cancer
Since April 2009 we have funded a full-time doctor's post for the treatment of children and adolescents with cancer and blood diseases in the paediatric oncology outpatient clinic and day clinic at the Centre for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in Heidelberg.
Dr. med. Corinne Rossi und Aron
Dr. Corinne Rossi, MD
Dr. Corinne Rossi, MD, a trained paediatrician in Switzerland who is also professionally active in the United States, has held a Hays-endowed outpatient doctor's position since the end of 2015. Dr. Rossi specialises in the treatment of children and adolescents suffering with cancer. She especially values the support her work gives patients and parents during these often long and difficult situations: "The confidence and trust we provide to our patients and their families is the foundation of the work we do each day. We devote our fullest attention to the children and their families and treat them with the greatest empathy and care".
We asked Dr. Rossi about her daily challenges. Here you can watch the video interview. (Only in German)
Paediatric oncology outpatient and day clinic
In the paediatric oncology outpatient and day clinic they receive a variety of treatments such as chemotherapy and blood transfusions with paediatric oncologists monitoring the progress of their treatments and their well-being. With the addition of Dr. Corinne Rossi, a team of three doctors look after some 50 young cancer patients who daily attend the Department of Oncology, Haematology, Immunology and Pulmonology at Heidelberg Children's Hospital.
An experienced team of doctors and nurses
An important element in providing this support is an experienced team of doctors and nurses. Since Dr. Kartal-Kaess has come on board, waiting times have been considerably shortened with patient complaints falling away to virtually none: "The additional doctor's post is a relief for both the team and the waiting children", says Dr. Andreas Kulozik, Medical Director for the Department for Oncology, Haematology, Immunology and Pneumology, speaking during a press conference. "I am, therefore, very thankful that Hays has supported us in this way and am especially pleased both with the obvious success we have had and the increased patient satisfaction."
